About the Festival
Music and More
Well, by the end of January, everyone is miserable, cold, maybe haven’t been drinking for a month. The pubs, restaurants and accommodation are empty, worse still, it’s weeks until Easter and weeks since the last festival.
It’s grim, it’s horrible and we want to change that!
Light in the darkness is all about shaking of the winter blues and casting some sunshine into the coldest winter month.
With music and arts in venues across Ulverston, for the whole weekend, we think it's going to be special. So get it in the diary and blow the blues away!

Why Join Us?
Why not join us!
Multiple venues, loads of acts and mostly free, what's not to like?
Current venues include: The Hope and Anchor, The Sun, The Swan, Gather Beers, The British Legion, The Roxy and The Coro and we're talking to more!
Can't see your favourite venue? Have a word, tell them to get involved, it doesn't cost them anything beyond the artists fee!
Authenticity
We're Definitely Up For Musical Diversity
Ulverston is known for being authentic, real amongst a sea of corporate blandness. So we're not looking to be the music police, you put it on, we'll publicise it, from heedley-heedly to thrash metal, we're up for it!
Innovation
Something New and Different...Bring it On!
There are masses of great acts in the North West, frequently struggling to get exposure, Light in the Darkness is a great opportunity to give them a go. Let's creat a reputation for being there first!
Impact
We're Going Down the Pub!
Before the pandemic, Ulverston was alive with music, it was a rare night when you couldn't see something live. We lost the habit a bit, it's still good, but it's not what it was. We're hoping that Light in the Darkness can give us all a little nudge back into the pub music groove!
